Romare Bearden Park is a public park that sits in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. The park spans a little over 5-acres and is named after Romare Bearden, Charlotte born artist. Romare Bearden Park opened to the public in the latter part of August 2013. It sits directly across the street from BB&T Ballpark.
The park offers a range of activities such as cultural arts and fitness programs year round. The design of the park is inspired by Bearden’s paintings and collages – which was interpreted by Norie Sato, supervising artist.
At Romare Bearden Park you’ll find a courtyard fitted with chairs and dining tables sitting on an elegant crushed granite bed, two lovely gardens, multiple waterfalls, a playful area with delightful interactive digital and dance chimes, several waterfalls, as well as a green field for formal events.
